In 2023, team Beyond Us initiated the visual development process for the internal project A Fearless World. We approached the project from the architectural lens of Eco-brutalism.

Eco-brutalism merges brutalism's powerful, utopian aesthetic—rooted in Soviet-era architecture—with eco-conscious design, integrating flourishing greenery into its stark, post-modernist forms.

Greig Fraser’s belief that unnoticed cinematography signals a strong story, underscores our philosophy that narrative drives impactful imagemaking.

In A Fearless World, we translate this into retro-futuristic eco-brutalist architecture, using mood illustrations— informed by naturalistic lighting, 1990s photography, and Fraser’s filmography—to seamlessly amplify the story and its tone.

Brutalism’s architectural versatility shines beyond its cold, monolithic stereotype, enriched by constructivist integration, playful structural patterns, and textural variety.

To explore this, we began our design process with 20-40 storey buildings, asking how monolithic forms can serve residential needs, support modular mobile apartments, reflect contemporary brutalism, and incorporate constructivism.

End of log, thank you.
